Registered Nurse - Palliative Care

Location: Carmichael, California

Start Date: 06-23-2026

End Date: 09-22-2026

Contract Type: Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, up to every other weekend

Hours per Week: 40

Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead meaningful goals-of-care conversations that truly make a difference for patients and families
• Develop daily patient lists and conduct thoughtful chart reviews to ensure comprehensive care
• Assess patient needs and provide compassionate education on disease processes and advance directives
• Facilitate family meetings and offer supportive end-of-life discussions when needed
• Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team during daily rounds
• Manage a rewarding caseload of 5-6 new patients and 3-4 follow-ups each day

Knowledge & Skills

• Cerner EMR proficiency
• Palliative care screening and consultation expertise
• Advance directives and POLST documentation
• Strong organizational and flexibility skills
• Compassionate approach to serving patients and families

Requirements

• Active California RN license required
• 2-5 years of recent palliative or hospice experience
• BLS certification required
• ELNEC certification preferred
• Strong acute care, clinical thinking, and communication skills
• ICU or oncology experience is a plus
