Job Title: Civil Project Engineer

Job Description

The Civil Project Engineer will contribute 2 to 5 years of civil design experience, preferably in site development and land development, to support and lead key aspects of civil engineering projects. Working closely with a Project Manager and a collaborative team, this role focuses on producing high-quality civil engineering designs, plans, and calculations, while maintaining strong client satisfaction. The position offers robust mentorship, training, and clear opportunities for professional growth and increased responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Create detailed civil engineering plans and technical specifications for site development and land development projects.
• Develop engineering calculations for stormwater management, utilities, drainage, and earthwork.
• Support and lead aspects of civil engineering design under the guidance of a Project Manager.
• Work with the Project Manager to execute project designs, create work plans, and track tasks and deliverables.
• Apply working knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and standards for major site development projects in California.
• Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and other civil engineering design software to prepare grading, stormwater, and site design plans.
• Coordinate with internal team members to ensure project milestones and deliverables meet quality, schedule, and client expectations.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders through clear verbal and written communication.
• Manage time effectively to handle multiple priorities and concurrent project tasks.
• Focus on client satisfaction by delivering accurate, timely, and constructible design solutions.
• Mentor and support entry-level engineers and interns, sharing technical knowledge and best practices.

Essential Skills

• 2 to 5 years of relevant civil engineering design experience, preferably in site development and land development.
• Strong experience in civil design, including grading, stormwater, drainage, and site design.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D for civil engineering design and drafting.
• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
• E.I.T. (Engineer-in-Training) certification.
• Working knowledge of codes, regulations, and standards applicable to the design and construction of major site development projects in California.
• Experience using typical civil engineering software tools such as AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, hydrology and hydraulic analysis software, and WaterCAD.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to function effectively in a team environment and collaborate with diverse project stakeholders.
• Strong focus on client satisfaction and delivering high-quality work.
• Effective time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in land development and site development projects in California.
• Experience in stormwater management, drainage design, and utility design.
• Experience creating grading plans and earthwork calculations.
• Interest in mentoring and developing entry-level engineers and interns.
• Ability to work independently while seeking guidance appropriately from a Project Manager.
• Motivation to grow into increased responsibility and leadership within project teams.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensure is a plus if obtained or in progress.

The role offers a modern, comfortable office environment with the option for a hybrid work arrangement after approximately 90 days. The office is in a new building with open windows and a great view, featuring an open workspace that encourages collaboration and communication. This is a Contract position based out of Roseville, CA.

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $55.00/hr.
