Location: San Francisco or Los Angeles (Hybrid)
Salary: $200,000 - $240,000 + equity

Orbis is partnering with a high-growth fintech that's rebuilding the investment infrastructure powering modern wealth platforms. Their unified solution serves independent financial advisors-combining brokerage, reporting, trading, and billing into one seamless interface.

They're now hiring a Staff Backend Engineer to lead backend efforts for their portfolio reporting function-covering complex features like statements, billing, and performance tracking. This is a hands-on leadership role with technical depth and product influence at scale.

The Role

As Staff Engineer, you'll own and evolve the architecture behind portfolio reporting systems-developing robust backend services, scaling distributed pipelines, and integrating new data sources. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to deliver seamless experiences to advisors and clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead backend development for the portfolio reporting team
• Build and maintain scalable microservices and data pipelines
• Own key ELT processes and ensure reporting accuracy
• Integrate new custodians, data feeds, and investment types
• Drive technical decisions and mentor engineers across the team
• Partner closely with product and design to shape roadmap priorities

Key Requirements

• 8+ years' backend experience (Java/Spring Boot preferred)
• Expertise in distributed systems and large-scale data processing
• Experience working on investment platforms or portfolio reporting tools
• Familiarity with AWS, Postgres, Kubernetes, and microservices architecture
• Excellent communication and leadership skills
• A strong sense of ownership and focus on reliability
