Role Overview

We are seeking a Lead iOS Software Engineer to help build and scale mission-critical mobile applications that support our flight safety platform. In this role, you will take ownership of core iOS systems from architecture through delivery, balancing hands-on development with technical leadership. You'll work closely with designers, product managers, and other engineers to deliver reliable, real-time mobile experiences that advance flight safety and operational effectiveness.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and maintain high-performance iOS applications using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks.
• Own and evolve the architecture of the iOS platform, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance in production environments.
• Lead and mentor iOS engineers through code reviews, architectural guidance, and day-to-day technical support.
• Contribute hands-on to complex features and core modules, modeling strong design and implementation practices.
• Collaborate closely with design and product partners to deliver intuitive, pilot-friendly user experiences.
• Integrate with internal and external APIs, real-world data sources, and hardware interfaces to enable secure, real-time functionality.

What Will Make You Successful

• 6+ years of professional iOS development experience, including shipping and maintaining production applications.
• Strong expertise in Swift and SwiftUI, with experience using UIKit and modern iOS frameworks such as Core Data, Combine, and Core Location.
• Solid understanding of concurrency and asynchronous programming, including async/await, multithreading, and GCD.
• Experience working with networking layers, real-world data streams, and/or Bluetooth or hardware-adjacent integrations.
• Proven ability to work closely with designers and product managers to ship polished, user-centered mobile products.
• Strong ownership mindset, with experience driving complex features from design through production.

Bonus Points

• Passion for aviation and a desire to improve air travel efficiency and safety.
• Experience with mapping or spatial frameworks such as Mapbox or MapKit.
• Background in aviation, robotics, sensors, or other real-world, data-driven domains.
• Familiarity with AWS-backed systems, CI/CD pipelines, or on-device ML (Core ML).

Work LocationThis is a hybrid role based in San Carlos, CA, with 3+ days per week onsite and the option to work remotely on remaining days.
