Position Summary

The Director of Medical Information will establishand lead Empower's medical information function, ensuring clinical excellence, scientific credibility, and trusted engagement with healthcare providers nationwide. This leader will design scalable systems for handling medical inquiries, create evidence-based educational resources, and build relationships with prescribers and professional societies. By integrating artificial intelligence into literature review, medical content, and provider engagement, the Director will modernize how Empower delivers timely, accurate, and compliant clinical information.

Success in this role means Empower is recognized as the most trusted clinical authority in compounding, with providers, regulators, and patients looking to us for clarity, education, and confidence in compounded therapies.

Duties and Responsibilities

Medical Expertise & Scientific Support

  • Lead the development of Empower's medical information repository (standard response letters, FAQs, clinical summaries) to support prescribers with timely, evidence-based insights.
  • Oversee response systems for unsolicited medical inquiries, ensuring all answers are accurate, balanced, and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Provide deep expertise across therapeutic areas including Hormone Replacement Therapies, IV therapies, sexual health, metabolic health, and functional medicine protocols.
Clinical Education & Market Engagement
  • Design and deliver clinical education programs (CME sessions, webinars, digital learning modules) for prescribers, pharmacists, and clinic staff.
  • Serve as a visible medical authority at national conferences (A4M, AMMG, AUA, SMSNA, and others), staffing Empower's medical information booth and engaging directly with providers.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs and Marketing to create clinically accurate white papers, case studies, and provider-facing content.
AI-Driven Medical Transformation
  • Deploy AI to accelerate literature review, analyze trends in prescriber inquiries, and generate tailored educational content.
  • Use AI-driven analytics to predict prescriber behaviors, adoption trends, and areas of unmet need in cash-based clinics.
  • Personalize medical education through AI-enabled segmentation of providers by specialty, prescribing behavior, and patient population.
Key Account & Provider Relationships
  • Establish strong relationships with high-prescribing providers and key opinion leaders in endocrinology, urology, gynecology, preventive medicine, and integrative health.
  • Act as a trusted clinical concierge for Empower's largest and fastest-growing accounts, proactively sharing insights, new research, and best practices.
  • Provide consultative support to clinics navigating challenging cases, treatment protocols, or adverse event interpretation.
Regulatory Alignment & Compliance
  • Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure all medical communications meet FDA, state board, and industry requirements.
  • Implement governance systems for tracking, documenting, and reporting inquiries, adverse events, and product quality complaints.
  • Stay current on regulatory changes affecting compounding and integrate them into Empower's medical communications strategy.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Build and lead a national team of Medical Information Specialists, ensuring coverage across therapeutic areas and clinic segments.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop clinicians (PharmDs, NPs, PAs, RNs) with strong expertise in Hormone Replacement Therapies and integrative health.
  • Foster a culture of scientific rigor, service excellence, and continuous learning within the Medical Information team.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Expertise in medical information strategy, clinical education, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong foundation in Hormone Replacement Therapies, IV therapies, and cash-based integrative medicine.
  • Advanced use of AI and analytics for literature review, clinical insight generation, and provider engagement.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of simplifying complex science for diverse audiences.
  • Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Account Management, and Compliance.

Experience and Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, NP, RN/BSA, or PA) strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years in medical information, medical affairs, or clinical leadership, including experience with compounded or specialty therapies.
  • Demonstrated success building or scaling medical information functions in healthcare or life sciences.
  • Regulatory and compliance expertise, including experience with FDA, USP, or compounding pharmacy oversight.
