Requirements

Summary

Facilitate mental health, substance use, and case management services under the clinical supervision of a licensed therapist, which includes collaborative planning with other members of the Medical and Clinical departments and external partners. Provide therapy and other supports to individuals (and occasionally their families) in a substance use recovery setting. Develop and implement treatment in compliance with grant obligations, all state, federal, agency, and other applicable rules and regulations. Collaborate with counseling staff to provide SUD diagnostic and determination of need and appropriate level of care for SUD clients.

Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to gain experience providing direct therapy in a substance use recovery setting.

• Compassion for individuals with substance use and/or co-occurring disorders and those who have been involved in the criminal justice system

• Basic knowledge of resources, methods, and techniques for all stages of recovery. Training in therapeutic interventions for individuals, couples, and families

• Basic knowledge of legal confidentiality and ethical requirements

• Ability to perform case management and administrative duties as required

• Knowledge of community resources and ability to facilitate referrals

• Professional presentation

• Competent interpersonal skills

• Competent written and verbal communication skills

• Bilingual candidate, preferred

Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of a licensed therapist:

• Conduct individual, group, and family therapy

• Educate individuals on substance use and related issues-may include outreach activities

• Complete assessments and intake clients into programs

• Crisis management of clients presenting substance use and co-occurring disorders

• Provide referrals to external partners where clinically appropriate

• Administrative Responsibilities: including charting, correspondence, filing.

• Charting for groups and individual counseling

• Review individual caseload charts monthly to confirm accuracy and compliance with client contract

• Actively utilize, reference, and follow agency policies, procedures, and guidelines

• Comply with all federal, state, and agency health and safety reporting requirements

• Adhere to all HIPAA and HITECH requirements as they pertain to client care

• Other duties as assigned

Competencies

• Ability to engage clients effectively in treatment

• Ability to effectively communicate clinical impressions and assess the strengths and functional impairments of clients, in collaboration with other clinical staff

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of treatment modalities including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Treatment

• Demonstrate basic knowledge of substance use, recovery, wellness, community resources, support services, and referral systems

• General knowledge of 12-Step Programs preferred

Education/License/Certification

• Current enrollment in a CA BBS license-eligible Master's program with an accredited school
