Job Details

The incumbent is responsible for transporting patients between departments within the hospital; assisting with moving and lifting patients on the care units; transporting specimens and equipment such as wheelchairs and gurneys between departments. Answer phones and direct calls as needed and perform other duties as assigned. Demonstrates competency in patient care for the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient. May access medication storage areas in accordance with their job function and hospital policy. Job Requirements. Minimum Qualifications:Six (6) months of related experience in healthcare required. Requires knowledge of:Proper body mechanics and patient safety. The organization of an acute care hospital and related facilities. Medical terminology. Requires ability to:Lift patients onto gurney and to assist them into and out of a wheelchair. Read and comprehend instructions written in English.
