Summary: Paragon is seeking a Staff Scientist II/III to support a wide range of environmental projects. Primary duties will include providing data analysis, research, and technical consultation; supporting proposal preparation; preparing planning documents; leading field activities; and preparing after action reports.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Support the Project Chemist and staff with planning, coordination, and quality assurance requirements and specifications for laboratories and data validators
• Create and QC sample tables, using Earthsoft EQuIS and Excel
• Manage analytical data via EQuIS, ERPIMS, FUDSChem, and Scribe
• Provide support to document authors and field staff as an analytical chemistry or data management SME
• Prepare SOPs, QAPPs, data validation and assessment reports, and other work plan documentation
• Oversee staff who manage the storage, usage and disposal and associated documentation of hazardous materials and hazardous waste
• Support proposal efforts by obtaining vendor quotes, writing technical approaches, and developing cost sheets
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications - Experience, Education And Certification:

• Associates degree in chemistry, environmental science, data management, or similar; Bachelors degree preferred
• Eight to ten (8-10) years experience in environmental remediation and investigation activities
• Experience with CERCLA and RCRA regulations and processes
• Ability to travel

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics:

• Must have a strong working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software (MSWord, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook)

• Experience with analytical laboratories preferred

Necessary Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk; use hands to finger, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Dot Covered/Safety-sensitive Role Requirements: This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation safety-sensitive functions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The employee will normally work in a temperature-controlled office environment, with frequent exposure o electronic office equipment. During visits to areas of operations, may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions. Is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and loud noise.

Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities.

Additional Qualifying Factors: As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
