Behavioral Health Receptionist

POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Manager, the BH receptionist will oversee the day-to-day operation of the Behavioral Health Department. Incumbent will be responsible for scheduling all patients including specialty providers, answering multiple phone lines, entering patient data into a computerized system as well as entering and checking insurance information. Incumbent shall perform other clerical functions as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Schedules appointments for patients.
  2. Answers and screens phone calls directing callers to the appropriate staff member or department.
  3. Enters patient registration information into computer.
  4. Verifies and updates patient registration data and insurance information.
  5. Checks patient insurance eligibility.
  6. Assists with entry of other information into RPMS System as required.
  7. Ensures eligibility for each visit daily and process information accordingly.
  8. Processes patient self- pay applications.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Must possess High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  1. At least 1 year of office experience and/or training in medical office procedures and patient records.
  1. Computer literacy in word processing, spreadsheets, and database components.
  2. Experience answering multiple phone lines and calls.
  3. Physically able to bend, lift, and move quickly.
  4. Ability to follow oral and written instructions with supervision.
  5. Ability to work well with others as a team player.
  6. Must be detail oriented.
  7. Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
  8. Must possess a valid CDL and be insurable the Tribe's auto insurance.
  9. Post job offer: CPR/BLS certification, TB test, and annual flu shot (during flu season) are required as a condition of employment, unless a medical/religious accommodation request is provided. Hepatitis B Vaccine will be offered at no cost to employees, but it is not required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bilingual strongly preferred. Spanish/English.


NATIVE PREFERENCE

Preference in hiring is given to either the most qualified applicant or a Native American candidate who meets the minimum qualifications. When two (2) or more Native American candidates have comparable qualifications, the following order of preference shall apply: (1) Members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (2) Spouses or domestic partners (certified through Tribal Court) of members of Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (3) Parents of children of the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians; (4) All other documented Native Americans; (5) All other applicants in accordance with Title 25, U.S. Code, Section 472 and 473. Applicants claiming Native preference must submit verification of Indian eligibility.
